At 9am on 6th June 2024, Cllr Gareth Baron, Mayor of Whitworth, proudly raised the Flag of Peace, in commemoration of the 80th anniversary of D-Day.
At 9.15pm tonight, a commemorative beacon will also be lit at the top of Brown Wardle, alongside other beacons across France and the United Kingdom as part of the International Tribute to recognise the bravery and sacrifice of all those involved in the D-Day landings.
